Welcome to our home page. Scott has his own web log, and someday real soon, I'm going to enjoy using this Web site to write, learn and be creative.
Since our son Jess was born 20 years ago, I have been lucky enough to work out of my home. He graduated from high school in 2003 and is in his 3rd semester at West Valley College. We also have an 11-year old daughter, Devi, and my plan was to do this in my spare time while she was in school. She just started 5th grade at Mulberry School. Unfortunately, since we launched this web site I've forgotten how to say no and have become a professional volunteer, especially at Mulberry. If I manage to change the date at the top of the page during the actual month, I'm happy. My two-year term as Board Chair has ended, so maybe these pages will stay up-to-date and maybe even updated.
I have worked part-time doing consulting work as the sole proprietor of Upstairs Company since I stopped working full-time for Apple Computer, Inc. 15 years ago. I wrote Presenting Magic Cap (Addison-Wesley, 1994), wrote The Everyday Web about MSN with my co-author (and husband) Scott. Mainly I am a 4th grade mom at a parent participation school (and serve on 3 committees there) and mom to a community college freshman, which is actually pretty easy. I serve on the education committee of the synagogue and I am a teacher for a pre-adopt class for prospective adoptive parents of foreign-born children. I have had experience working in public relations for a computer company (Apple) and an NBA team (Denver Nuggets). I anticipate writing things about my children and family and international adoption and education and quotations I really like, all kinds of sports and anything else that stirs my passions. Maybe I'll even find a job that pays again.
